The New York Giants (+275 odds to win the NFC East) blew a 5-0 start last season to finish 8-8 and miss the playoffs. That resulted in some serious housecleaning in the offseason; here is their 2010 training camp outlook.
The Giants’ once-proud defense completely melted down last year. After the perfect 5-0 start, it allowed an incredible 32.3 points per game, including 85 in the final two games when New York was fighting for a playoff spot. The secondary was overhauled with Antrel Rolle and Deon Grant joining the mix, while the team’s top four draft picks were spent on “D.” Will it be enough?
On the bright side, New York’s offense blew up, averaging over 25 points per game. Eli Manning has a great receiving corps to work with, including Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks, and Mario Manningham. The running game took a step back, though, and was merely mediocre.
